Our Services
Small Animal Services
BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE | Illness doesn't always have a physical cause. We employ trained animal behaviorists who help determine the cause of such disorders as separation anxiety and obsessive behavior, and then develop a treatment regimen for the client. |
BLOOD TRANSFUSION | We have blood donors available for dogs and cats in case of emergency. The blood is collected from pets that live with their owners, and all blood is carefully screened for disease. |
COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE | Our clinic embraces the holistic approach to pet health and wellness. We balance traditional medicine with acupuncture, massage, herbal supplements, and chiropractic therapies. |
PET DENTAL CARE | Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound equipment to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface that is more resistant to plaque buildup. Dental radiography and other advanced dental care is available. Don't allow your pet's teeth to look like the photograph on the left! |
EMERGENCY AND CRITICAL CARE | In any emergency, seconds count. Our experienced staff is stocked and equipped to administer the ABCs of basic life support – Airway, Breathing, Circulation/Cardiac compressions. Emergency care is offered during regular business hours. In addition, we provide after hours emergency care. |
ENDOSCOPY | High-tech fiber optics permit direct visual examination and biopsies of your pet’s gastrointestinal system. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral, esophageal, stomach, colon and even upper intestinal tract disease. Foreign objects can sometimes be removed without the need for surgery. |
FULLY STOCKED PHARMACY | We stock a wide range of the best veterinary drugs in the animal healthcare field. We have access to the best compounding facilities for those difficult to find medications. We can also find other ways to get your pet to take the medicine such as applying a gel to the ear instead of taking pills. |
EUTHANASIA SERVICES | Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We work with clients to ensure their pet's comfort and dignity. Services include taking care of the remains as directed by the client. We have an incinerator for providing cremation giving our clients the option of getting ashes back. |
IMMUNIZATION AND WELLNESS CARE | We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in Wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your animal and they include: Comprehensive physical exam; internal parasite testing; heartworm and flea control; vaccination program; spay and neuter, and specialized blood tests for all life stages. Whether you have cows, horses, dogs or cats, we can develop a special program just for you. |
IN-HOUSE LABORATORY We have a complete laboratory. Most procedures can be performed in-house and for those specialized tests, we have a network of reference laboratories. Besides the basic centrifuge and microscope, we are equipped with chemistry, hematology, electrolyte, and total T4 machines. We also have a full arsenol of test kits and special stains so you can receive results same day whenever possible. |
INTERNAL MEDICINE | We cover all areas of internal medicine, including: Cardiology; Ophthalmology; Neurology; Dermatology; Gastroenterology; Orthopedic surgery; Oncology; and Endocrinology; among others. If referrals are needed we are able to provide one in most cases. |
MICROCHIPPING | Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer the most widely used microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery. Our Home Again microchip can help save your pet's life. |
NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING | Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. Our trained and certified staff is available to help you choose the right diet for your pet to keep him or her happy, healthy and active. |
PAIN MANAGEMENT | Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care. All surgical patients are sent home with pain medication. We also have very good pain relief options for pets with arthritis. |
RADIOLOGY Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. We can use contrast studies to determine if an object is obstructing your pet's GI system, or if your pet has a problem with it's urinary system.
Casselton Veterinary Service, Inc. is excited to announce the arrival of state-of-the-art Digital X-rays to our veterinary facility.
Just as digital cameras have made photography easier and more efficient by eliminating film, Digital Radiography (DR) systems provide the veterinarian with a radiographic image that can be viewed immediately on a high-resolution monitor without the need for film development. DR systems also offer sophisticated image processing tools, giving the veterinarian much greater depth of information that can be enlarged or manipulated for far better detail, resulting in closer scrutiny of potential areas of concern.
Digital X-rays will better help us, help you. We will now be able to visualize higher quality, detailed images that will help further enhance our diagnosis and treatment of your pet. |
SPECIALIZED SURGERY | Our veterinary surgeons have additional training to perform eye surgery, urogenital, and orthopedic surgical procedures. |
SURGERY | We offer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Surgical services and facilities include: board certified surgeon available for consultation; fully trained veterinary and technical staff, to ensure the safest, most efficient, state-of-the-art procedures for your pet; heated surgery tables for greater comfort; advanced sterilization techniques; ECG and oxygen saturation monitors; intensive after surgery care and full blood testing. |
ULTRASOUND | This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available. We can use this technology on horses, cows and small animals. |
RABBITS AND SMALL MAMMALS |
Veterinary medicine for rabbits and other small mammals, sometimes referred to as “pocket pets,” is growing as the popularity of these animals increase. With better public education in health, nutritional and environmental management, all species have a greater chance for living longer and healthier lives. We employ veterinarians who possess experience in the care and treatment of “pocket pets” such as rabbits and ferrets among others. |
